Just a quickie, so I don’t let anyone down who might be hoping for an update. Broad overview The past week (and a bit) has involved: Finalizing which prizes I plan to submit my books to, which can be a little more involved than you might imagine. Some prizes may require manuscripts to be sent in several months before the books are actually published (for example, the Booker 2021 prize was awarded in September; any books published in 2021 that were up for that prize had to be sent to the judges by April 2021). Some prizes, though, award the prize in the year after the book is published (so some of the books I’m publishing in 2022 would be in the running for 2023’s awards). Some have unclear deadlines. Some have no deadlines, instead taking running submissions. Some take books from this year, last year, and next year. Some never get back to you no matter how much you beg them for an entry form.
